Intelligent Motion Training
I recently completed a program called Intelligent Motion Training! I use this knowledge to augment the hands on Bowen therapy I do at Bridge to Healing so that clients get better results from their sessions. This training qualifies me to perform movement assessments to find holding patterns and teach gentle somatic movement and stretches that clients can practice at home between sessions to accentuate the positive changes happening in the body. I am currently taking a class on the fascia in which movement is emphasized. I am learning that movement is vital to keeping the fascia (connective tissue all over the body) from becoming stuck and dry. Exercise helps lubricate the fascia so that it glides freely and with less pain. Stretching also decreases inflammation and stimulates cells to release chemicals that cause the tissues to relax. I try to practice what I preach, so I added some of these exercises to my own routine first, with positive results! Let’s face it, we all could use more movement in our lives.
