500 Hours and Fascia
I just completed an online course that put me over 500 hours of Bowenwork training! This important professional benchmark establishes me as a practitioner on par with licensed massage therapists in the state of Oregon. But don’t worry, just because I reached the 500 hour mark, doesn’t mean I will stop learning. The American Bowen Academy requires 32 hours of continuing education every two years, 16 of which must be hands on. Besides, I love to learn!
The class I recently completed was called, “Fascia: What is it and why it matters.” Trust me, it matters! It is called the organ of form. It is the continuous web of connective tissue that separates, yet connects every muscle, organ, and cell in your body right down to the nerves. It is why a Bowenwork procedure performed on one part of the body can have a far reaching effect elsewhere in the system. Likewise, a restriction from a scar or muscle that is locked short, can wreak havoc further up or down the kinetic chain. Bowenwork can help release these restrictions and have surprising results throughout your entire system.
