Healing Power of Gratitude

Healing Power of Gratitude

Looking for that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Being more thankful for what you already have can make it feel like gold! I am thankful for time with my sweet niece, instead of focusing on the other 350 days we don”t see each other, or the fact that it rained on our morning walk. Our brains are wired to focus on the negative in order to keep us safe, but it isn’t always necessary, and it doesn’t make us happy. When we express and receive thankfulness our brains release two feel good neurotransmitters, serotonin and dopamine which make us feel good. Practicing gratitude on a daily basis can actually help rewire the brain for more happiness. Let’s make thankfulness part of our lives throughout the year, not just on Thanksgiving. If you are experiencing pain, try shifting your focus to what is working well in your body and be thankful for that! It might help lessen you pain and make you happier in the process.
